Gym Policies

Gym Policies*

TAP

In martial arts, when a participant wants the activity to stop, they lightly slap their partner on an arm or leg and say "TAP." When someone taps, the other party immediately becomes hands off.

RESPECT

Respect your instructors and your teammates at all times. All classes start/end with communal bows and handshakes.

ATTENTION

Attention is expected during instruction and practice. Disruptions may lead to class removal.

INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY

One Dojo contracts with Samantha Cooper Photography, and all others desiring to take pictures must obtain permission.

WOUNDS & INJURIES

All open wounds or cuts must be covered.. Students should not train with injuries including sprains, breaks, fractures, concussions, and more. Doctor clearance may be required for participation.

PERSONAL HYGIENE

Come to class clean with hair appropriately restrained. Wash hands after activities like the restroom or blowing noses.

GYM EQUIPMENT

Students are not permitted to play on or use gym equipment (e.g., exercise machines) without permission.

SAFETY

Do not use physical activity to hurt others or in a way that may harm others.

HEAT ADVISORY

When there is a heat advisory or temperatures exceeding 90 degrees outdoors, bring water, electrolyte replacement, and a fruit snack (oranges, apples, etc.) for class breaks.

CLOTHING

Wear clean athletic clothing with no zippers, velcro, jean,, or scratchy material that could be abrasive.

ATTITUDE

Students must maintain a respectful and positive attitude during class.

ILLNESSES

Do not come to the gym with illnesses or contagious diseases. Students will be dismissed from class.

PLAYROOM

Your children use the playroom at their own risk. We ask that an adult be present at all times.

SEXISM

There is a 0 tolerance policy for sexism. No gendered comments or insults are allowed.

PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY

If you make a mess or cause damage, you are responsible for rectifying the situation or face dismissal from the program.

MEDICATION ADMINISTRATION

One Dojo follows Fort Worth ISD policies regarding medication administration during One Dojo programs.

VIOLENCE

There is 0 tolerance for violence, including but not limited to biting, kicking, pinching, punching, smacking, etc.

SPORTSMANSHIP

There is 0 tolerance for language or behavior that belittles or demeans teammates.

PHOTOGRAPHY CONSENT

One Dojo reserves the right to take photographs & video and to use them on social media and print advertising unless expressly informed otherwise.

SHOES

No shoes on the mat. Always wear shoes in the bathroom and keep feet clean.

ETTIQUETTE

Manners, polite language, verbal respect, and appropriate social interactions are expected at all times.

NAILS

Keep all finger and toe nails clipped short to avoid cutting your partner.

ALLERGY FREE

Avoid wearing lotions, perfumes, or scented products. Do not bring classic allergens like peanut products to the gym.

SKIN HEALTH

Attending class with contagious skin rashes or infections is prohibited and could lead to dismissal from the program.
