HOMESCHOOL DOJO
What makes us unique?
Homeschool martial arts classes for the whole family by a homeschooling family.
Coaches Wes and Belle have been homeschooling for six years, and Coach Belle was homeschooled from 3rd-12th grade. They are excited to bring a program to the DFW homeschooling community that makes martial arts affordable to all families and accounts for the unique interests, values, and needs of homeschoolers.
Our Homeschool Program is supported by a generous donor who has subsidized our costs. This is how we are able to offer our classes at such a competitive family rate. Because of this, we do require verification of homeschool status: two referrals from other homeschooling families and/or proof of enrollment in a homeschool coop. Beyond just providing you with steeply discounted tuition, this also provides a safe space where you are guaranteed to be around families like yours.
Our Model
Looking for firm discipline?
Coach Wes has you covered through his respect-based mat leadership informed by his years as a competitive martial artist, police officer, and retired US Marine.
Looking for development for your nervous kiddo or special needs child?
Our classes are designed through a combination of traditional martial arts instruction and the best of educational theory courtesy Coach Belle’s experience as a curriculum and instruction specialist (MA, MSE) and educational psychologist (Doctoral Candidate). She specializes in working with kiddos with ADHD, ADD, SPD, ASD, ODD, and more.
Worried about class being too intense?
All kiddos from the most nervous to the most competitive find their happy space on our mat through game-based learning opportunities that bring the techniques to your child’s level, helping them develop their inner martial artist.
Unsure about what class is like?
Our hour-long classes include kinesthetic warm-ups for strength and dexterity development, 1-2 grappling techniques per class, wrestling-based games, and active live wrestling rounds to finish class.
